Article from Buffalo Rising
1088 Niagara Street is really coming along nicely. The infill on the street is great to see, especially after another nearby building was recently demolished (see here).
This development was a big win for Buffalo. Originally, the building was going to be one-storey with parking in the front. Can you imagine? But instead of building something that would have looked deplorable on this up and coming section of Niagara Street, the community banded together and fought for something that would resemble a number of historic structures nearby.
Once complete, there will be a Tim Hortons with drive-thru, additional retail space, and apartments on the second floor. Not only did the city get a decent looking building, Ellicott Development got a number of apartments added to its residential portfolio. Not to mention that residents living upstairs will have easy access to coffee and donuts, and Tim Hortons will have a built-in clientele. Now that’s a win-win for everyone.
