Ellicott Development Purchases Riverfront Property

Jul 09 2015

Seeking to continue Buffalo riverfront development

A 13-acre property on Ganson St. in Buffalo, NY is in new hands thanks to a recent auction. Ellicott Development has invested in the space and we are now working on determining its future.

Sold to the Highest Bidder

Carl Paladino, the founder and chairman of Ellicott Development, paid $2.17 million for the property in Buffalo. He and his investment partner, Victor Liberatore, were the highest bidders at the auction and are no strangers to giving this type of lot a makeover.

Although Paladino doesn’t have any specific plans for the property just yet, he says that he’s “very open” to ideas. The space features 1,700 feet of access along the Buffalo riverfront and boasts five existing buildings with a total of 54,544 square feet of space between them. That’s a lot of potential for a firm that’s already working on other developments in the area.

The Future of the Buffalo Riverfront

The property in Buffalo, which used to be Man O’Trees, sits directly across from Buffalo River Landing, a future 78-unit luxury apartment building. It shares the area with commercial and industrial properties for General Mills and ADM Milling as well as RiverWorks, a “waterfront, boating, sports, music and entertainment destination” right on the Buffalo River.

With this diverse selection of companies nearby, Paladino envisions something in the commercial, industrial or entertainment sectors for the Ganson St. property. Construction wouldn’t be much of a concern since the buildings already on the property are ripe for reuse. It’s simply a matter of deciding what type of project would best serve the area and align with our business model.

New Potential for Property in Buffalo

The area itself already draws a lot of interest. RiverWorks is set to attract a diverse clientele including lovers of ice skating, sports fans, diners and practitioners of the martial arts as well as anyone looking to host a big event. Ellicott’s plans for Ganson St. may turn out to be complementary to this eclectic destination. Whatever we decide on, it’s sure to help continue to develop and brighten up the Buffalo riverfront area with new and exciting opportunities for individuals and businesses.

At Ellicott Development, we’re responsible for millions of square feet of office and retail space throughout the Niagara, Upstate New York and Western Pennsylvania areas. Our extensive knowledge and experience in a variety of development services equips our firm to handle whatever the future may bring to the Buffalo riverfront.
