In honor of his memory, the golf tournament was named “Ellicott Development Company Belesario Paladino Golf Tournament”. Sadly, a little more than a decade later, tragedy struck in 2009 when Patrick Paladino, son of Carl, passed away from a car accident. Patrick always looked forward to this event as he loved playing with family and close friends. This brought upon the renaming of the event “The Ellicott Development Belesario A. NY Post: The Wind and Sun Are Bringing the Shine Back to Buffalo

Article via NY Times
By Diane Cardwell July 20, 2015

BUFFALO — Along a bend in the Buffalo River here, an enormous steel and concrete structure is rising, soon to house one of the country’s largest solar panel factories. Just to the south, in the rotting guts of the old Bethlehem Steel plant in Lackawanna, where a dozen wind turbines already harness the energy blowing off Lake Erie, workers are preparing to install a big new solar array.

And in Lockport, to the north, Yahoo recently expanded a data and customer service center, attracted by the region’s cheap, clean power generated by Niagara Falls.

After decades of providing the punch line in jokes about snowstorms, also-ran sports teams and urban decline, the Queen City of the Lakes is suddenly experiencing something new: an economic turnaround, helped by the unlikely sector of renewable energy.

The change in Buffalo is so evident that parents who once told their children to seek their fortunes elsewhere are now telling them to come back.

Luxury housing booms in Buffalo

Via WIVB Channel 4

By Jenn Schanz

BUFFALO. N.Y. (WIVB) — Expansion in the Queen City demands more housing.

The approach? Several new luxury apartment options downtown.

Kristan Andersen, Vice President of real estate firm Gurney Becker & Bourne has been renting apartments here for years.

She told News 4 she’s seeing new trends.

“The prices have gone way up in the rental market,” she said.

Just five years ago, three-bedroom apartments rented for around $1,000 a month downtown; the going rate for new luxury apartments in the same area is around $1,500 for a one-bedroom.

For young people returning to Buffalo, the change is a shock.

“I was surprised at the rent. There were a lot of apartments that were between $700 and $900 for like a one bedroom or a studio,” said Buffalo native Michael Wysochanski.

Road Less Traveled leads to a charming, spacious new home

Article via Buffalo News
By Colin Dabkowski

Road Less Traveled Productions has found a new home on a well-traveled stage, in the heart of what may soon be a bustling neighborhood.

The company announced plans Wednesday to move from its 90-seat space in the former Market Arcade Film & Arts Centre into the cavernous Forbes Theatre at 512 Pearl St. in time for the opening of its 2015-16 season in September.

The one-year deal between Road Less Traveled and building owner Ellicott Development comes five months after city officials announced the sale of the Market Arcade to an Amherst investment group with plans to convert it into an eight-screen AMC Theatre.

Road Less Traveled’s move also is the first public phase of an ambitious development plan for the neighborhood that Ellicott Development CEO William A. Paladino hinted would involve several of the company’s properties on the edge of the Theatre District. Paladino said the company would officially unveil its plans in the next month for the neighborhood and the building.

Demand continues for city apartments

Article via WBFO
By Mike Desmond

The push for new apartments in downtown Buffalo appears to be moving farther and farther out from the Central Business District.

Ellicott Development is planning new townhouses and potentially another high-rise on the waterfront.

But the two projects it just took to the Zoning Board of Appeals were “brownfields,” a building at Niagara and Busti vacant for 20 years and a vacant field on Ohio Street unused for far longer. That’s a plan which might take some years, to gradually fill the space between the Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association and a new city park.

Article via Buffalo Rising

With the apartment market red hot, Ellicott Development Company is dusting off plans to put residential units in a four-story commercial building at 960 Busti Avenue. The company purchased the site in April 2008 along with a nearby property at 1050 Niagara Street from Ciminelli Development.

A reuse plan for the property prepared several years ago called for 23 residential units and commercial space. The new plan submitted to the City calls for 18 apartments on the third and fourth floors. The first two levels would include approximately 27,500 sq.ft. of commercial and retail space.
