Construction on Ellicott Development Co.’s latest Buffalo project has reached a key milestone.
The four-story, 44,000-square-foot building, being built by Concept Construction Corp., has reached its halfway mark and is on pace to open later this year.
Designed by Kideney Architects, the $8 million, privately-financed project, located at 905 Elmwood Avenue, replaces a dilapidated gas station that operated at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and W. Delavan Street.
Work began last year.
Plans call for 21 market-rate apartments — a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom units — to be developed on the building’s top floors. Apartments will range in size 900-square-feet to 1,900-square-feet, with several having outdoor balconies overlooking Elmwood Avenue.
Restaurateurs Henry Gorino and Chuck Mauro will be operating a trendy, upscale two-story restaurant on its lower floors.
The project is one of several Ellicott Development has in its pipeline including renovating the former School 56, also on W. Delavan, into a residential-anchored building.
