Q&A
About our business:
Buffalo News began in 1880, we are 136 years young! Our core business is The Buffalo News newspaper, however we evolved into a multi-media business offering commercial printing & direct mail, marketing & advertising solutions with print and digital, as well as specialty publications, such as Buffalo Magazine. Buffalo Magazine began in 2008 as a WNY lifestyle publication delivering regional stories to WNY readers. Home, Health, Style, Food and Travel are the mainstays of the publication with many special supplements.
Location, # of years in business
The Buffalo News anchors the Canalside district – and has been at the corner of Washington & Scott Streets since 1957. Prior address was at Main and Seneca Streets.
Why we decided to sponsor the Artists Market?
Buffalo Magazine decided to sponsor the Artists Market because we understand the need for an open forum where vendors and businesses can share creative, unique products to a downtown market lacking in available retail opportunities. There is a sense of community at the Artists Market that we find appealing and representative of our brand, Buffalo News and Buffalo Magazine.
What charitable or philanthropic work does your business do?
The Buffalo News and its brands support a wide range of charitable projects, events and initiatives throughout the region. News Neediest, Books for Kids, Kids Day – these are just a few of the major initiatives we support.
Company’s greatest accomplishment so far?
It’s hard to say as we continue to do everything we can to support WNY. For instance, News Neediest is associated with the Holiday Partnership which serves more than 10,000 children each holiday season by collecting and distributing toys, as well as food to over 25,000 people. Over $176,000 donated to help the needy through this program.
Working and being located in Buffalo
Community pride and spirit. There is a genuine desire to see our community grow and succeed. It’s taken some time to see changes and The Buffalo News is fortunate to be located in the midst of substantial developments around the city – not just buildings, but places where people can gather, enjoy the natural resources and take pride in our city and region moving forward.
