The corner of Elmwood and W. Delavan Avenue is growing up where the former Elmwood-Delevan Food Mart was demolished. In its place, Ellicott Development is constructing a four-story building designed by Kideney Architects that will house a restaurant, retail space, and 21 apartments. It is one of several projects that have been recently completed, underway or proposed that is changing the character of Elmwood for better or worse as discussed in The Buffalo News here.
Ellicott Development is partnering with Local Boys Restaurant Group to construct the four-story building. Local Boys Restaurant Group partners Billy Paladino, Henry Gorino, and Chuck Mauro are bringing a restaurant concept that will be somewhat familiar to Gorino’s Rocco’s Wood-Fired Pizzas located on Transit Road. The restaurant will have a sidewalk patio along its Elmwood Avenue frontage and a 1,200 sq.ft. indoor/outdoor dining space on the second floor.
Accessible only from W. Delavan, a concealed parking area will occupy the rear portion of the project site. The remainder of the second floor along with the entire third and fourth floors will include 21 high-end apartment units ranging in size from 900 to 1,900 sq.ft.
