Eight local projects including Kaleida Health’s new skilled nursing complex on the edge of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, were named winners in their respective categories during the annual Business First “Brick by Brick” awards.
The awards were announced Thursday evening.
The “Brick by Brick” winners were:
• Best Educational project –The Barbara and Jack Davis Engineering Hall on the University at Buffalo’s Amherst campus.
• Best Historic Restoration/Renovation project – Ellicott Development Co.’s Health Sciences Charter School on Ellicott Street.
• Best Medical project – Kaleida’s Highpointe Skilled Nursing Facility on Michigan Avenue.
• Best Multi-Residential – St. Martin Village on Dodge Street in Buffalo.
• Best New Construction – The Tuscarora Nation House in Lewiston.
• Best New Green Construction – UB’s Greiner Hall, also on the Amherst campus.
• Best New Office/Development – Iskalo Development’s 2780 Delaware Avenue project in Kenmore.
• Best Retail – Northtown Lexus auto dealership on Sheridan Drive in Amherst.
The recently opened U.S. Federal Courthouse was named the “Golden Brick” for the best new development of the year and veteran commercial broker, Sheldon Berlow, with Pyramid Brokerage Co. of Buffalo was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Judging was handled by Jennifer Aiple, Greater Buffalo Building Owners & Mangers Association executive director; Keith Belanger, M&T Bank senior vice president and Buffalo Place Inc. chairman; and David Stebbins, vice president, Buffalo Urban Development Corp.
