There was a time that I probably wouldn’t make the trip to the Village of Kenmore, other than to get my vacuum cleaner fixed. But recently I’ve been finding more and more reasons to visit the village – from the restaurants and bakeries to the shopping. I love shopping at Miss Josie’s Vintage and Antiques. I also recently ate at Mike’s Subs (for the first time ever).

During a recent visit, I noticed that a new Spot Coffee was opening near the corner of Delaware Avenue and Delaware Road. That is a significant advancement for the shopping district, since Spot Coffee is essentially an attraction that generates a lot of foot traffic for a neighborhood.

Aside from Spot Coffee, the Delaware Avenue commercial spine that runs through the village looks very impressive these days. There are new buildings, it’s super clean, there are inviting shop windows to browse, the street is narrow which lends to natural traffic calming, there is a good variety of businesses, and the village has a quaint vibe that makes shoppers feel welcome and comfortable. Even the lamp posts are of human scale, unlike Elmwood Avenue where there are still cobra neck/head lamp standards (incredibly).
