After a snowy Buffalo winter, you might be right if you guessed that most of the city gets a little stir crazy and ready to enjoy the delights of spring.
Since that’s the case, it’s a good thing Buffalo is ready to oblige, with lots of spring fun to enjoy both indoors and outdoors. We’ve picked a few of our favorites and we’d love to hear what you’re planning and looking forward to this spring as well.
Catch a Buffalo Bisons Game
For die-hard baseball fans, the most important day of the year, Opening Day, has already passed. For the rest of us, there’s still lots of baseball to love.
A day out at Buffalo’s minor league stadium watching the hometown Buffalo Bisons will have you enjoying the spring sunshine just as much as the popcorn and Cracker Jacks the old song mentions.
Take Part in the Dyngus Day Parade
Dyngus Day is a unique nod to the city’s strong Polish history and heritage. The day officially commemorates the end of the Lenten season but is also heavily associated with pride in the Polish heritage that abounds in Buffalo and the Western New York area.
The parade starts at the intersection of Clark Street and Kent Street with a blessing on the steps of Corpus Christi Church. Following the parade’s completion, festivals, polka bands, folk dancing, and merriment can be seen and heard throughout the city.
Revel in Spring Flowers at the Botanical Garden
Bulbs are the star of the Spring Flower Exhibit at the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens. With more than 22,000 blooming tulips, hyacinths, lilies and more on display, the Gardens are the place to be for wedding and graduation photos, aspiring artists and sketching enthusiasts, and nature lovers.
And, although the flowers are the star attraction, there are some other fun options and activities available during the April exhibit, including sculpture features and fuzzy friends from 4-H Farm.
Enjoy Live Theatre Performances at Shea’s
Hopefully as the world awakens around you in spring, you’ll feel ready to take in some new experiences and culture as well.
Shea’s Buffalo Theatre has an award-winning lineup scheduled for this spring, including performances of The Book of Mormon, Fun Home and Dear Evan Hansen.

Festival events include film; food and beverage tasting; music and dancing demonstrations; and more. A 2.8 km race is also par for the course, and if you must run, where better to run than through the beauty of the cherry blossoms?
